MIDAS is an illuminated glass screen by SHUCHUANG. Hand-cast glass bricks are laid up in a running bond inside a slim metal frame, each holding a row of small gilded half-domes against its inner face, so the pattern is created by what sits inside the glass rather than on it. Light introduced at the head and foot of the frame travels through the stack and is thrown back by the domes, so the screen reads as a lit surface from both sides while remaining partly transparent. Made to order for restaurants, bars, lobbies and lift halls. Screen height, width, brick module and insert finish are engineered to your plan. An illuminated glass screen, laid up brick by brick
Hand-cast glass bricks are laid up in a running bond inside a slim metal frame, exactly as masonry is laid. Each brick holds a row of small gilded half-domes set against its inner face, so the pattern of the wall is created by what is inside the glass rather than by what is printed on it.
Light is introduced at the head and foot of the frame and travels through the stack. The domes catch it and throw it back through the glass, so the screen reads as a lit surface from both sides while remaining partly transparent — a diner sees the room beyond as colour and movement, not as detail.
