BECKETT is a custom lounge chandelier by SHUCHUANG — an open three-dimensional lattice of slim polished-gold rods with crystal points of light, engineered for the reception lounge of a luxury hotel. A lattice of light over the lounge
For the reception lounge of a luxury hotel, BECKETT hangs an open lattice of slim metal rods across the ceiling — crossing at different depths, with small points of crystal light set where the lines meet. From the seating below it reads not as a chandelier but as a field of light, held in the air above the room.
Almost nothing, precisely made
The effect depends on how little is there. Each rod is finished in polished gold and set into a three-dimensional grid we build and align by hand, dense enough to hold the eye yet light enough to keep the ceiling open. It is a geometric, deliberately rigid raster — and the discipline is what makes it feel weightless.
