WOVEN is a woven glass chandelier by SHUCHUANG. Straight gilded glass battens are laid across one another at every angle, exactly as a bird builds a nest, the whole holding together by overlap to form a solid-looking rectangular volume that is mostly air. Each batten carries a warm line of light along its gilded length, and because they cross at all depths the interior glows through the gaps, so the piece reads as a woven block of light with no visible source. A woven glass chandelier, crossed like a nest
WOVEN is built from straight gilded glass battens laid across one another at every angle, exactly as a bird builds a nest — no batten aligned to the next, the whole holding together by overlap. The result is a solid-looking rectangular volume that is mostly air.
Light sits inside the weave rather than below it. Each batten carries a warm line of light along its gilded length, and because they cross at all depths the interior glows through the gaps, so the piece reads as a woven block of light with no visible source and no single surface.
