KOI is a coloured glass chandelier by SHUCHUANG. Long strands of clear glass beads fall the full height of the void as a fine vertical rain, and curved coloured glass leaves in blue, green and amber are set among them at varying heights and angles, each catching the light as a solid coloured note against the clear ground. Because the beads are cool and continuous and the leaves warm and scattered, the coloured forms appear to rise through the falling beads. A shoal read in coloured glass
KOI hangs curved glass leaves in blue, green and amber among long strands of clear beads through a double-height lounge, so the coloured forms appear to swim upward through a falling curtain of clear rain.

A coloured glass chandelier, shoal against rain
KOI works two layers against each other. Long strands of clear glass beads fall the full height of the void as a fine vertical rain, and curved coloured glass leaves — blue, green, amber — are set among them at varying heights and angles, each catching the light as a solid coloured note against the clear ground.
Because the beads are cool and continuous and the leaves are warm and scattered, the two never merge. From the floor the coloured forms appear to rise through the falling beads, and the whole piece changes as daylight from the void's glazing shifts across it through the day.
