BUTTONWOOD is a glass disc chandelier by SHUCHUANG. Amber and clear discs are threaded onto vertical lines running the full height of the void, each line carrying discs of several diameters at irregular spacings and hung at a different radius from the centre, so the column has depth from any floor. Each disc is a flat face rather than a faceted body, so it reads as a clean bright circle from a distance and the column resolves through the building's glazing at night. A glass disc chandelier, threaded down the void
Amber and clear discs are threaded onto vertical lines that run the full height of the void. Each line carries discs of several diameters at irregular spacings, and the lines themselves are hung at different radii from the centre, so the column has depth from any viewing floor.
The piece is designed to be seen from outside as much as from within. Because each disc is a flat face rather than a faceted body, it reads as a clean bright circle from a distance, and the whole column resolves into a legible pattern through the building's glazing at night when interior detail has gone dark.
