SOLACE is a blown glass chandelier by SHUCHUANG. Each glass form is worked by hand into a soft, slightly irregular volume and hung on its own wire from a fine armature that radiates outward from the centre like a web seen from beneath. The forms are packed close where the armature is tightest and spread wide toward its edge, so the mass reads as one object from across the room but breaks into separate pieces underneath it. Made to order for double-height lobbies, stair voids and glazed frontages. Overall spread, drop count, glass form and armature pattern are engineered to your space. Made to order in our own workshop in Guzhen, Zhongshan, China. Worldwide shipping.
SHUCHUANG
Project
SOLACE hangs blown glass forms from a fine radiating armature, dense at the centre and thinning outward, so the piece holds together as one body while every element is clearly separate.
SOLACE is made to order in our own workshop. Overall spread, drop count, glass form and armature pattern are all built to your void, then shipped and delivered worldwide.
Blown glass forms carry the whole piece, and no two are identical. Each is worked by hand into a soft, slightly irregular volume, then hung on its own wire from a fine armature that radiates outward from the centre like a web seen from directly beneath.
Density does the composing. The forms are packed close where the armature is tightest and spread wide toward its edge, so the mass reads as a single object from across the room but breaks into individual pieces as you walk under it. The armature itself is drawn thin enough to disappear at any distance.
Made to order for double-height lobbies, stair voids and glazed frontages. Overall spread, drop count, glass form and armature pattern are engineered to your space, and the armature is built in segments for assembly at height.
