CIRRUS is a crystal lace chandelier by SHUCHUANG. Strands of crystal are bent into closed loops and joined edge to edge, so the surface is a net of open cells rather than a panel, then carried on curved wire ribs that spiral upward to give the group its rising motion. Because the piece is mostly air, the strands catch light along their length and go dark at the turns, so the pattern of bright lines shifts with the angle of view while the ceiling stays visible throughout. CIRRUS loops strands of crystal into open cells and lifts them through a rotunda in slow spirals. The whole piece is line and hole — dense enough to read from the floor, open enough to see the rippled ceiling straight through it.

CIRRUS is built from strands of crystal bent into closed loops and joined edge to edge, so the surface is a net of open cells rather than a panel. The loops are then carried on curved wire ribs that spiral upward, which is what gives the group its rising motion.
Because the piece is mostly air, it lights differently from a solid form. The strands catch light along their length and go dark at the turns, so the pattern of bright lines shifts continuously with the angle of view while the ceiling behind stays visible throughout.
