VORTEX is a cascading crystal chandelier by SHUCHUANG. Every rod drops on its own suspension at its own length from a slim metal grid, and the lengths are set to a stepped rhythm, which turns a flat grid into a twisting column when seen from the floor. The rods carry an internal texture so each one holds light down its full length, and warm rods concentrated lower make the whole cascade appear to deepen as it falls. VORTEX drops the full height of an atrium as a dense column of textured crystal rods, hung at staggered lengths on a slim metal grid. Warm and clear rods alternate through the column, so the colour deepens toward the base.

A cascading crystal chandelier, dropped the full height
VORTEX is hung from a slim metal grid at the top of the void. Every rod drops on its own suspension at its own length, and the lengths are set to a stepped rhythm, which is what turns a flat grid into a twisting column when seen from the floor.
The rods are drawn with an internal texture rather than polished clear, so each one carries light down its full length instead of only at the tip. Warm and clear rods alternate through the column, and because the warm ones are concentrated lower, the whole cascade appears to deepen as it falls.
